Our six year old peachcot trees, planted as seedlings, finally produced a crop of fruit this summer:
(A peachcot is a peach-apricot hyrbrid.)

After a rain, these so-called “rain lilies” pop up out of nowhere:
The “century plant” is an agave that spends years or even decades looking like a medium-size aloe, until one spring it decides to bloom and sends up a 15 to 25 foot stalk:
